All services providing Adult health and Social Care in England are required under The Health and Social Care Act 2008 to register with the Care Quality Commission (CQC). This legislation sets out the CQCs statutory powers and duties as well as giving the legal framework for service providers to follow.
The CQC is an independent regulatory body that monitor and inspect health and social care services to ensure service users have safe, effective, and high quality care.
The CQC specifies that clinics and services provide and maintain a clean environment that facilitates prevention and control of infection. Constant compliance to the standard is achieved with effective cleaning, delivered to specification, with detailed reporting systems in place to act as check and control mechanisms.
