There is no doubt we probably all feel we’ve had a very strange Easter, this year. The Government’s announcement last week extending the lockdown, has impacted us and many others in business. However Jon has swiftly adapted to homeworking and Sean and Izzy celebrated their eldest son’s 18th, mostly with raucous singing on zoom and chocolate cake!
As many of you know we are based in Bromsgrove and supply a cleaning service to companies across the three counties of Worcestershire, Gloucestershire, Herefordshire, as well as Birmingham. February’s floods on the Rivers Wye and Severn put immense pressure on businesses & residents, our thoughts are with them as they continue to battle the clear up and we thank some of our own clients for understanding when our service was temporarily disrupted, due to road closures. The uncertainty continues this month with the rapidly evolving situation of the Corona Virus, we are still providing the highest quality of cleaning and will continue to keep you updated with the best advice as to how we can all prioritise health of our staff whilst to continuing to run our businesses effectively and efficiently at such a time of concern. Take care of yourselves!
Happy New Year! This month is often seen as a time for fresh starts or goal setting, here at Cleaning Technique we want to build on the strengths of previous years, but also take the opportunity to reflect on what we can achieve or improve upon in our business. This coming year is our 35th year in the cleaning industry and despite the many changes, especially with Employment and Health and Safety Legislation, we are proud to have been adaptable to these changes and remain compliant, whilst delivering a high quality cleaning service. We’re looking forward to adding new clients to our portfolio this coming year.
In this the last newsletter of 2019, we want to thank all of our clients for giving us the opportunity to clean your premises and look forward to our continued partnership with you in the coming year. Sean, along with Jon and Helen will be visiting each of our large cleaning team with a small Christmas gift and thank them for all their hard work.
This month has seen new clients and staff!
We take pride in seeing the standard of cleaning improve for new clients. This month we were able
to commence office cleaning at an insurance company in Bromsgrove, after their current contractor
ceased cleaning, with no notice. They were pleased with our responsiveness and the high standard of cleaning we were able to achieve within the first evening’s clean
Everyone has enjoyed their summer trips away here at Cleaning Technique and the directors Sean & Izzy, were especially pleased to have a break with their boys, in a very warm and sunny Cornwall, with one or two cream teas! September has seen new contracts added to our portfolio each week and we look forward to partnering with these new clients in delivering a quality cleaning service.
Summer has arrived! We’ve been enjoying the sunshine from our office and van windows! Jon has enjoyed a deserved holiday and Izzy has been catching up with some clients over the phone, overall the feedback on our operative’s work has been very positive.
This month we’re pleased to have expanded our car dealership portfolio, along with some new clients in different sectors.
This month’s unusually wet weather has had an impact on those of our clients who have business environments other than offices. We provide a cleaning service to a number of car dealerships, golf clubs and even the Forestry Commission. All of these premises experience heavy footfall, especially in their washrooms. Our operatives do a fabulous job of maintaining high standards and getting the floors free of mud and debris, ready for the start of each day. As our business covers a 35 mile radius from Bromsgrove, the management team often listen to the radio when driving between sites, we heard an interview recently with Mary Portas (‘Queen of Shops’ fame), she spoke eloquently on the subject of kindness in business.
May is always a welcome month here at Cleaning Technique, longer days enable our staff to go to and from work in daylight. As always we are very grateful for each team member and the role they play to enable our business to succeed. April brought an increase in the
National Living wage and also our financial year end, so it has been a very busy time for Jon
in the office, as he centralises all the information required by our accountant.
We enjoyed the Spring like weather over the school half term, balancing work with a couple of family days out. Often Spring is the time that is focused on fresh starts, here at Cleaning Technique we like to build on the past, whilst looking to the future. This month we’re recruiting an additional mobile cleaner to join our team. This person will have the flexibility to carry out cover cleaning, working alongside other operatives and liaising with our clients to ensure a high standard of service is maintained. With the prospect of increasing mobile staff who require vans, we’ve introduced a VW Up! to our vehicle fleet, Izzy is enjoying driving this smaller more economical car, that is until 17 year old Josh passes his test and wants to borrow it!
2019 has started at full speed here at Cleaning Technique, we’ve added new customers to our portfolio and gone to the edge of our coverage area with a solicitors office in Tewksbury. We’re thankful that the weather didn’t cause any disruption to our service, although we had three disappointed boys at the lack of any snow day!
Our Director, Sean, unashamedly loves Christmas, he’s right there with his lads in the excitement of the season, the tree, the Christmas CD and mince pies! So this month is all about Christmas. When Sean’s not working or playing Santa delivering festive thank you gifts for our own staff and 2018’s new clients, we are looking forward to spending time with our sons and our church family celebrating the birth of Jesus.
Similarly to last month, November has seen a number of new staff join us here at Cleaning Technique. We invest time at the commencement of their employment to work with our operatives and fully induct them to the their specific site, this ranges from ensuring necessary references and checks are complete, to Health & Safety training with a short video presentation. They’ve all made a superb start!
When we take on a new client, we always carry out an initial deep clean to get things ship shape for our regular cleans, so we’ve been doing a few of these this month! In line with bringing on board new customers, we’ve been busy interviewing and inducting new staff to join our team across the Midlands. We’re really proud of the fact that our team are employed, and not temps, so we have a committed workforce who feel a part of our family business. Some of them have worked for us for over 20 years!
We’ve shared some lovely family time in August, going away to Cornwall under canvas. We discovered great beaches, surf and cream teas of course! Also keeping it in the family our son was busy, in his long summer break after GCSEs, delivering our new leaflets to businesses in the local area. He did a superb job, which led to several enquiries and new business.
This month has mostly been about cars! Since the early days of Cleaning Technique, we’ve had the privilege of taking care of the cleaning requirements at Car dealerships. We’re pleased to have added another Startin Group car dealership to our portfolio this month, Startin Suzuki, Worcester and we’ve submitted quotes to two other garage workshops. Then our eldest son went to prom in this lovely classic Jaguar!
We feel really privileged to be working with so many outstanding businesses in the Worcestershire, Warwickshire and wider Midlands areas. Cleaning is a passion for us, having been a family business started by Sean’s Mum over 30 years ago! Every new customer receives a visit from Sean to manage all the site needs and expectations, so we can get it right from day one.
We hope you’ve enjoyed a great Easter, with plenty of eggs and some time off. Here at Cleaning Technique we’ve been busy working on our website and sales campaign but have also managed to have some holiday time with family.
Welcome to our monthly news, where we hope to keep you up to date with what’s happening at Cleaning Technique and how we’re helping businesses around the Midlands create a great first impression with their sparkling offices, showrooms and facilities. We’ve been around for over 30 years, working with all kinds of businesses and offering a full range of cleaning services. Our MD Sean McGrath now has an updated LinkedIn Profile which tells you a bit more about the story of how Cleaning Technique was started by Sean’s mum.
